There are many predictions about the end of the world on December 21, 2012, which origins are from the Mayan Calendar. The Mayans said that the initial time of the start of their civilization was in 3113 B.C. The Great Cycle of Mayan Calendar is 5,125 years. The ending date of 5125-year-long Great Cycle (5th Sun Cycle) is on the Winter Solstice of 2012, which is December 21, 2012. Therefore some people interpret that doomsday is on December 21, 2012.

This doomsday is endorsed by a I-Ching theory from Terence Mckenna who was an American philosopher, writer and spiritual teacher. He invented the I-Ching Time Wave theory using The King Wen sequence (文王卦序), which is an order arrangement of the 64 hexagram. Then he assigned mathematical values to each of 384 lines of the 64 hexagram in a graph to make the curve and translated into time. (more..) The ending date was calculated in November 2012. In China, there is no doomsday prediction for 2012 besides Hollywood movies. On the contrary, China has one prophecy regarding to 2012 from Ching 清 Dynasty. The first hexagram is , which is on the top of . The solid bar stands for Yang. The three solid bars together is the biggest Yang. So it can connected to Sky (Chyan ). One of the functions of Chyan is the development of universe. This is a sign for Peace.

The 63rd hexagram is , which is on the top of . The broken bar is Yin. Yang outside Yin is Fire (Li ). Yin outside Yang is Water (Kan ). Therefore, is Water over Fire, which implies cooking is complete. All the Yang bars of are in the odd positions and all Yin bars are in even positions. That's a sign of Completion and Success. Since Water over Fire, it also a sign of accident - extreme pleasure might be followed by sorrow.

The last hexagram is , which is on the top of . Fire over Water. Fire cannot perform its function. Yin and Yang bars of are in wrong positions. These implies a sign of Incompletion, Danger and Hope of Future. That means the last hexagram doesn't mean the end of the cycle.
